Year Two had a wonderful morning of team-work activities as part of our Christmas Party day. First, working in groups the children used four sheets of paper to make the longest paper chain they could, with some incredible results. They realized communication was the key to success. Next to had a snow man building contest, with prizes for the tallest and sturdiest snowmen. These had to be free standing some a good knowledge of structures and 3D shape was very helpful. Finally

This week, our imaginative Year Two pupils have been busy turning their outdoor adventures into wonderful creative stories! After visiting both Heaton Park  and Armstrong Park , the children returned to school buzzing with ideas, eager to share all the sights, sounds and surprises they discovered on their explorations. This week Year 2 have been participating in Anti-Bullying Week. First we developed our understanding of what bullying is by defining it, and identifying examples of bullying. Then using ProjectEVOLVE we learnt about cyber bullying, and how we can respond if faced with this in our lives. The we played the Blame game. This involved hearing different scenarios and deciding whether they were intentional, or accidental. Finally we applied our understanding of speaking out and seek

Today, Year 2 have been learning about the importance of trees and how by simply donating £1, we can help plant trees in other countries. To further celebrate trees, we created artwork using fallen leaves. First, we created amazing collage animals, then we created a class artwork inspired by the outdoor artist Andy Goldsworthy.

This morning, Year 2 had a fantastic time taking part in an NSPCC Speak Up Workshop. We learnt about our trusted adults at home and at school. We learnt that everyone has the right to feel safe, and who we can talk to if we have any worries or concerns. Finally we made Buddy puppets and explored the NSPCC Website. Now we all have the knowledge we need to stay safe. Speak out. Stay Safe.

Year 2 have been learning about computing. We explored the different uses of IT equipment in school and in our wider community. We were amazed at how much technology effects our lives. Then we learnt about smart watches and wearable technologies. We designed and made our own prototype smart watches, choosing which apps and features we would want to include.
