The Great Fire of Gateshead

Year 2 had an amazing morning with The History Bloke learning all about the Great Fire of Gateshead. We explored how our Quayside has changed since Victorian times. Next we explored artefacts from Victorian times and tried to work out who would have used them.
Once we had learnt all about Victorian Gateshead, we found out about the terrible events of the Great Fire of Gateshead. On the 6th October 1854, an enormous fire destroyed large parts of the Gateshead and Newcastle Quayside. We acted out how he fire spread and leant a song to remember this awful event in our local history.
