This week, our imaginative Year Two pupils have been busy turning their outdoor adventures into wonderful creative stories! After visiting both Heaton Park and Armstrong Park, the children returned to school buzzing with ideas, eager to share all the sights, sounds and surprises they discovered on their explorations.
During their visits, the children took time to look closely at the natural world around them. They listened carefully to the rustling leaves, the chirping birds and the distant patter of paws in the undergrowth. They spotted squirrels leaping between branches and magpies swooping overhead. After gathering all these sensory details, Year Two spent time discussing what they had experienced and thinking deeply about what life might be like for the creatures that call our local parks home.
Back in the classroom, armed with their notes and plenty of enthusiasm, the children used their ideas to plan and write their very own imaginative stories. Their creativity truly shone through as they invented characters inspired by the animals they had seen. Some wrote about homeless hedgehogs searching for a cosy new den, while others created tales starring magnificent magpies embarking quests through the treetops.
The finished stories are full of rich vocabulary, vivid descriptions and wonderful imagination.
