Drawing Skills in Year 2

Year 2 have been learning about drawing skills in their art work.

We started this unit by exploring different drawing materials including; charcoal, oil pastels, chalk, graphite rods and wax crayon. First, we explored how holding equipment in different ways, and varying the amount of pressure we applied, changes the lines and tones we create. Next we tried mixing materials. We used chalk to add areas of light to charcoal and then layered oil pastels on top of wax crayons to create different colours. We finished the lesson by using wax crayons to collect different textures on paper by making rubbings.
