Year 5 – Learning About Moses and God’s Covenants

This half term in RE, Year 5 have been learning all about Moses and the importance of covenants in the Bible. The children have explored the story of the Exodus, discovering how Moses was chosen by God to lead the Israelite's out of Egypt and guide them to freedom.

As part of our learning, we have also looked closely at the special relationships — or covenants — that God formed with key figures such as Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. The children discussed why these covenants were important and how they show God’s ongoing relationship with humanity.

In our writing, pupils have produced thoughtful biographies of Moses, highlighting the key events of his life and the qualities that made him such an important leader. They have also written in depth about the special covenants God made and reflected on what these promises mean for believers today.

It has been wonderful to see the children engaging so thoughtfully with these big ideas and deepening their understanding of faith, promise, and trust.
