In Year 5 Physical Education, pupils have been learning all about cricket, developing their understanding of the game and its basic skills. Over recent lessons, children have been introduced to the fundamental rules of cricket and the different roles played within a team.
This week, the focus was on throwing techniques. Pupils practised how to throw with accuracy and control, learning the importance of correct grip, body position, and follow-through. Using these skills, they took part in activities aimed at hitting the stumps, helping them to improve both their aim and coordination.
The sessions also encouraged teamwork, communication, and fair play, as children supported one another and took turns practising their throws. Through a range of fun and progressive activities, pupils were able to build confidence while developing key physical skills such as hand–eye coordination, balance, and spatial awareness.
The children showed great enthusiasm and determination, and it has been wonderful to see their skills improving as their understanding of the game continues to grow.
