In the lead-up to Christmas, Year 5 got creative by designing their own Christmas cards inspired by the look of stained glass windows. Each card featured a scene from the Nativity, and the children explored how colour can convey meaning. They worked with earth tones, shades of the night sky, and colours traditionally associated with Mary, thinking carefully about how these choices added depth to their designs.
Using felt-tip pens, the children coloured their images with bold, vibrant strokes. Once complete, each design was photocopied, creating a striking effect that gave the pictures a smooth, almost printed finish. These copies were then mounted onto cards with a neat white border, and an inner sleeve was added for a personal Christmas message.
The final results were beautiful and thoughtful – a perfect combination of creativity and festive tradition.
