Year 3 – Art and Design – Rubbings and textures

Year 3 children have been working hard in art and design this week. Children have covered the unit, ‘Growing artists’ and have been learning about how to draw objects by focusing on the shapes they see within the image they want to draw. Children have learned about the different grips, detail and shading, and how these can best help in the finished drawing. We have been focusing on nature.

We have also been focusing on textures and rubbings. Children used an uneven (wavy) surface for their rubbings and coloured pencil for shading. Children then carefully ripped the paper (using scissors for detail) to make shapes to produce an image of a plant. I’m sure you’ll agree… the finished products show the children as growing artists!
