Year 1 – Gymnastics

This half term in Year 1, children are learning lots of different gymnastics skills in their PE lessons. So far, pupils have practised travelling skills such as rolling, skipping and running. Children were then given a challenge to come up with different balances by only using two balance points. Everyone tried very hard to hold each balance for at least 5 seconds before creating a new balance. Year 1 then finished by practising different jumps such as star jumps, pencil jumps and tuck jumps. In their next lesson, children will come up with a sequence using all 3 elements – travelling, balancing and jumping. Excellent work Year 1!
