In Year 5, pupils have been combining their computing skills with their history knowledge to bring the past to life. As part of their topic on Ancient Islam and the Golden Age of Islam, they explored what life may have been like during this remarkable period of cultural and scientific advancement. Drawing on what they learned in history lessons about the Round City of Baghdad—one of the greatest centres of learning and innovation at the time—they used Purple Mash in their computing sessions to create detailed 3D models of buildings. These models were then placed within their digital recreation of the Round City, helping them visualise and understand the historical setting in a creative and engaging way.
