Year 3 – Art and Design

Children have been working hard all week in art and design and have been focusing on the formal elements of shape. Children have been looking at straight lines and 2-d shapes that we often see in human-made objects and wavy lines that we often see in the natural world. We have applied geometric shapes to our drawings and used these as guidelines – such as a rectangle and circle to create a cylinder for drawing a can of cola. Children have then applied these skills when drawing inanimate objects.

Children also created sculptures by using wire modelling to create form and shape. We focused on and used a template of a fish.
