Year 1 – Take One Picture

This week, Year 1 pupils have taken part in the Take One Picture programme by the National Gallery in London. The children were shown parts of the painting ‘The Courtyard of a House in Delft’ by Pieter de Hooch over the week and discussed what they could see in the painting, what they think about the painting and what they wonder. Pupils then looked at the tessellation work in the painting and how it was created using a repeating pattern. The children then used sponges and potatoes to print with paint and make their own tessellations.
