Year 1 – Maths – Addition and Subtraction

Year 1 have been working very hard to solve addition and subtraction problems using a part part whole model. Pupils  first solved addition problems using counters and a tens frame, they then recorded this in 4 different ways.  Children then used the same method to solve subtraction problems and they recorded these down too. The children were then confident at writing down fact families for a part whole model with 8 different number sentences.
