Investigating the style, pattern and characteristics of Ancient Egyptian art
In Year 3, we’ve been on an exciting journey back in time to explore the world of Ancient Egyptian art! The Egyptians were amazing artists, and their artwork is full of patterns, symbols, and fascinating stories.
Ancient Egyptian art often looks very different from modern pictures. People and animals are usually shown from the side, with their faces, legs, and feet pointing one way—but their shoulders facing forward! This special style helped them show as much of the body as possible.
Egyptian artists loved using repeated patterns and bright colours. We saw lots of zigzags, stripes, and shapes, especially on clothing, jewellery, and walls of temples. These patterns were not just pretty—they often had lots of different meanings!
