Year 3 – Computer Science

Year 3 have been using code.org this week for computer science. Children looked at how programming is used in the real world and we discussed technology such as video games, mobile phones, machines and robots that build vehicles etc.

Children then logged into code.org and we began to look at the features and functions. We looked at programming together and then children started to work through a series of coding activities that looked at creating lines of code and debugging.

What is programming? The purpose of programming is to find a sequence of instructions that will automate the performance of a task (which can be as complex as an operating system) on a computer, often for solving a given problem.
