The Great Fire of London

Year 2 have been learning about the Great Fire of London. Our first lesson was spent exploring clues about the events of the fire. After establishing a time line of events we explored why the fire was able to speed so quickly. We read newspaper articles and diary entries to establish the main reasons the fire spread. We found that wooden houses, narrow streets, strong winds and thatch roofs were a recipe for disaster that lead the the fire destroying a quarter of London. Finally, we made Tudor houses card and tissue. With the use of a slider, we made moving flames and re-enacted the Great Fire of London.
