Year 2 children learned some interesting facts about China today as part of our school’s celebrations for International Week. Children also had the opportunity to try some Chinese food which had been lovingly prepared and delivered to school. Children looked at: Chinese culture, the Mandarin language, listened to traditional Chinese music, and sampled food such as noodles, rice, and chicken, as well as some vegetarian options. Children used Google Earth to find China and were surprised at the size of the country compared to the U.K., but not not quite as surprised as they were when they found out that the famous landmark, ‘Great Wall of China’ was over 13,000 miles long! That’s roughly the length of the U.K. which is 600 miles long – multiplied 22 times!
