Making crosses at a House of Objects

Reception had a fantastic afternoon at House of Objects last week. They were able to select all of their own materials and decide how they wanted to join materials to construct a cross shape. Some of the children decided to use wood to make their crosses and used saws to chop them to the right length and hammered in nails to join the 2 pieces together. Others used ribbon to join the pieces. Some children chose plastic or cardboard tubing or wooden dowel to make their crosses. They selected their own decorations and attached them using PVA, by tying them on or using a glue gun. It was great to be able to experiment with new materials and tools and take some risks and engage in new experience.
