Y5 Additional Home Learning

Y5 Additional Websites or work that can be accessed for Home Learning

EdShed

https://play.edshed.com/en-gb/login

Pupils can play spelling and maths games on this website. Spellings will be linked to the spellings in class for the week but there are also maths games and assignments that will be set.

Pupils can gain points and use them to change their avatar etc. The website also reports back to the class teacher to show a league table for those who have played the games and acquired points.

Times Tables Rockstars (TTRS) (10 minutes daily)

https://play.ttrockstars.com/auth/school/student

The children also have a login for this website where they can practise their tables. Ten minutes each day is the recommended amount.

Purple Mash

https://www.purplemash.com/login/

We sent out the login details for Purple Mash last week. Sometimes work will be set to complete on this platform but it can also be used for maths and English games at any time. There are lots of activities and games which can help to reinforce learning.

Oxford Owl (15 minutes daily)

https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/login?active-tab=students

The class login for this website is on Seesaw. You can use this to read the reading books that we would normally read in school. If children are on free readers, they can also access books from home and read daily.

Learning by Questions

https://www.lbq.org/Login

This will be set by the class teacher on certain days and a code will be sent out via Seesaw. The teacher may set Reading, Maths, English or wider curriculum tasks. The children log on using the code and the teacher can see who has completed the tasks and if they struggled with any of the concepts. The code will only last for one day so they cannot log on and do the tasks the day after.

Topmarks

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/

This is a free website that the can children use and it has lots of Maths and Literacy games on.

BBC Bitesize

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize

There are lots of extra lessons/quizzes and activities on this website. The children can learn more about topics that we have already covered. If they have struggled with a maths concept such as perimeter, for example, they could do another lesson on this site to reinforce the White Rose videos and worksheets that they are already doing.

Oak Academy

https://classroom.thenational.academy/subjects-by-year/year-5

Again, there are lots of lessons on here made by teachers. We sometimes use these in our weekly lessons but children could use some of the lessons to reinforce Maths or English tasks if they want more support in any curriculum area.

Spelling Frame

https://spellingframe.co.uk/

This website is good for pupils who would like to practise their spellings. If you select the year group your child is in there are plenty of games to try.

Pobble365

https://www.pobble365.com/

This website gives you a picture each day and some lovely Literacy activities to go alongside it. You can do sentence work or write stories.
