In Maths, Year 6 have been exploring how we can use a formula to find any number in a sequence. Children were challenged to construct the first ten steps in a sequence, and then develop the formula for finding other terms in that sequence.
At first they thought this was quite a challenge, but soon realised that algebra is not as difficult as we think!
Each group of children found that to find any term in our sequence of matchsticks, the formula is: 3n + 1
