As part of their topic on South America Year 5 spent an afternoon painting some beautiful Amazon Rainforest paintings. They worked in the style of the French artist Henri Rousseau by trying to use sharp lines and bold colours. They started by only using white, yellow and blue to make different shades of green leaves and they only mixed the paint once it was on the paper. They were then able to add a little red to give an alternative effect. They thought carefully about the directions of the leaves and added some interesting vines for variation. The end products were a work of art!
