The pupils in Year 5 have been working very hard learning about playful poems this week. They first read a poem called ‘The Cave of Curiosity’ by Mel and Pie Corbett to find some features of poetry. The children learned lots of new language skills such as how to use alliteration, personification, metaphors and onomatopoeia. They then used as many of these new skills as they could to write their own poems about an imaginative place and what they might find there. They used the iPads to improve their own work and helped their peers improve their work too. Here are a few examples of their very impressive creative writing.
